Domestic Worker Fatally Strikes Nnamdi Azikiwe University Lecturer with Pestle in Anambra

In a tragic incident, an unnamed domestic servant allegedly killed a lecturer from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, after striking him with a pestle during a heated argument. The lecturer, who taught at the Psychology Department of the institution, succumbed to his injuries following the altercation.

The incident occurred on Friday night in Ifite village, Awka, the capital of Anambra State. A circulating video on social media features the suspect confessing to the crime, admitting to delivering multiple blows to the lecturer with the pestle, causing him to collapse.

According to the suspect, the argument erupted when the deceased returned home and instructed him to cook rice while questioning why the dishes were not washed. The suspect claims he remained silent, which further provoked the lecturer, leading to physical confrontation. In a fit of rage, the suspect grabbed a pestle from the kitchen and struck the lecturer on the head.

Initially denying responsibility, the suspect later confessed after intense interrogation and physical force were applied. A family source revealed that while the deceased was being transported to the hospital for medical attention, the suspect attempted to suffocate him inside the vehicle to conceal his actions.

As investigations progressed, it became apparent that the suspect had also inflicted knife wounds on the deceased's body in an attempt to make it appear as though a third party was involved in the attack.

The police spokesperson for Anambra State, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that he had not received an official report on the incident but assured that he would make inquiries and provide further updates.

This unfortunate incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of conflict resolution and maintaining a peaceful environment within households.
